About Me

I was born a Peterborough County native, a farm boy local to small community of Hastings.

Though there have been plenty of blessings to recount, from the time of my youth I’ve also been deeply shaped by disappointment and hardship: a parental divorce, home house fires, and the loss of a high school friend to suicide. I didn’t realize it at the time, but each of these events would profoundly shape me to become the sort of person is able and willing to comfort those in mourning – to enter in to people’s world, and to never stop learning about what makes us who we are and how to help mend what’s broken.

In my late youth, I came to faith during an encounter with the word. Slowly but surely the Spirit has been working out his graces in my life and continues to smooth out rough edges.

I married my highschool sweetheart, Bethany, with whom I am celebrating 10 years of love and approaching 7 years of marriage. We have been blessed with two little children, young Phinehas, and little Phoebe, and are looking forward to what the future holds for our family.

Among studying Psychology at the local Trent University, I was drawn to Tyndale Seminary to study the art of Christian Counselling at a Master’s level. Having spent several years away learning, working, and growing – we determined it was time to come home to Peterborough.

We have both been active and persistent servants of the local church and parachurch efforts. The effect of pastoral intentionality, brotherly love, and ongoing care from the body has been tremendous and has forever shaped the way I help.

My story continues with seeing the need for an unabashedly Christian Counselling service to come alongside the churches of Peterborough in order to see the people of our community grow up into the strength and maturity they are called to.
